Utah's 24th

Being a native of Nevada, and living their most of my life I am very impressed with Utah (as I have recently move here). I have been enjoying one of their many long time traditions.... This was my first time I experienced celebrating the 24th of July in Utah...The Days of ’47 KSL 5 Parade is one of the largest and oldest parades in the United States. It’s a family tradition full of colorful floats, bands, horses, clowns, and other entries thrill thousands of spectators each year. Many camp out on the streets the night before -- just to ensure a great seat to catch it all.

Besides enjoying seeing all the floats at a preview float party we enjoyed kids camping over, pizza, fireworks, waffles for breakfast, watching a great parade (on our private couch at home on tv), eating more food at the Elliott's barbeque!!! Oh, Brent had planned a huge suprise...we hope to enjoy it every year...

Figi here he comes...

I have been waiting for a while now...I would like to believe that it seems for ever. But, the time does seem to past quicker than I thought it would. Kyle called last night from the airport. Yes, the time of his MTC training has ended and he is on his way now to do the Lords work. His call was filled with excitement and he is very anxious to get to teach the Figi natives or people. As a mother it really brings much comfort to your soul, your heart when you know they are ready, worthy and prepared to serve...

His name...

"How we treat our family members, our neighbors, business associates, and all we meet will reveal if we have taken His name upon us and do always remember Him."

Our 4th of July

Wednesday started with a fourth of July parade and they threw tons and tons of candy. I think Avery thought it was Halloween or something. We again had a big dinner; barbeque at Brent’s folks. We had the works like hot dogs, hambugers, potatoe salad, chips, and more. Then we went to a show at Lagoon. It was a ½ hour musical. One good thing about Lagoon is with a resident drivers licence you can get a free pass to walk into Lagoon. With Avery being 2 yrs old she can ride in the kids section for free. We let her and Hayden ride a few rides before the big fireworks started. It was cute to see the look on her face. When we got out of the car Brent pop her up on his shoulders and she looked at the big rides like the roller coaster and said, “this bees a fun place to go…can I do those things?” She called the roller coaster a roller poster. It was fun as a grandparent to see her excitement. In the furture I will be able to bring more grandkids to places like this. That will be awesome!!! The fire works started at 10:00 pm and Lagoon does a pretty nice show. We sat outside on the ground and enjoyed the works…next year I will bring camp chairs. Notice what a 2 year old will choose to eat at a barbeque when you let her help herself...

Calling

I have a new calling in church...It was expected (a calling of somekind) as I just moved into a new ward. One is fresh meat, new prey, ect. when they decide to move in a new area. However, I have always been please to serve. Maybe at times in the past I thought why this calling. But it always works out for the best; meaning I was the one to benefit more in the long run. Elder Henry B. Eyring said, "Calls will stretch you, often at the start and always over their course, but He will give you the Holy Ghost to be your companion." I beleive this...as we can become an instrument to do the things he needs us to do.
