This past week my daughter and granddaughters came to visit. We had so...... much fun. I enjoyed doing alot of fun hoilday things with them. Madelyn is now nine months old and she is a pure joy to be around. She is quite a busy baby and has a smile that just makes you chuckle!!! I have two little kids chairs in my living room. She has learn to climb into them. She is quite pleased with her accomplishment!

DRUGGED!!!.....

Drug Problems?

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that
a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse,
and he asked me a rhetorical question, 'Why didn't we
have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?'

I replied, I had a drug problem when I was young:

I was drug to church on Sunday morning (catholic then)
I was drug to church for weddings and funerals. (much different than Temple marriages or attending an LDS funeral)

I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather. I was expecte to behave in the car, not to be a distraction.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. (No excuses)

I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.

I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity. (even ivory soap taste bad)

I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's (DAD'S) garden and flower beds and pick bales out of dad's fields. (Just Uncles)

I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood; and, if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed. (woodshed not needed all she had to do was look at me and say you wait until your dad gets home)

Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; and, if today's children had this kind of drug problem, this country would be a better place.

God bless the parents who 'drugged' us!

Kitchen helps.....

"The kitchen table is where we mark milestones, divulge dreams, bury hatchets, make deals, give thanks, plan vacations, and tell jokes. It's also where children learn the lessons that families teach: manners, cooperation, communication, self-control, values." -- Doris Christopher

Words of much Wisdom.....

I recently read this and "WoW" she said it so correctly.

At the press conference when she received the Nobel Peace Prize, Mother Teresa was reportedly asked, “So, how do you feel now that you have been working to feed the poor and ease their misery for decades, and things are still just as bad—or worse—in Calcutta as when you started?” Her profound response is an example to us all. She said that we have not been called to be successful but to be faithful.
